At AFP, we have a soft spot for SOF aviation.

The MH-47 aircraft replaced the USAF's MH-53J airframe after the Iraq War to move the long-range insertion and extraction SOF mission to the Army's TF160.

Boeing has secured an $877.7-million contract to deliver an undisclosed number of MH-47G helicopters for the US Special Operations Command.

Primary works for this order will be facilitated at the company’s center in Ridley Park, Pennsylvania, with completion scheduled by November 2030.

The deal follows a $240-million award in March for five MH‑47G aircraft. Deliveries for that package are expected to start in 2027, bringing the total number of helicopters under the broader program to 51.
