A debris field has been found in South Carolina during the search for a F-35 fighter jet that had gone missing after a “mishap” on Sunday, officials confirmed, reported ABC.
A U.S. Marine Corp F-35B has still not been located. If the aircraft flew out into the Atlantic, it may be lost, and at risk of being recovered by a foreign power.
A source has told AFP the last transponder ping for the jet was over the North/South Carolina border.
"The jet’s transponder, which usually helps locate the aircraft, was not working “for some reason that we haven’t yet determined,” said Jeremy Huggins, a spokesman at Joint Base Charleston. “So that’s why we put out the public request for help," reported The Drive.
The pilot is reported to have landed in a Charleston neighborhood after ejecting.
Well at least it wasn't lost over Iran like our stealth drone was. or handed to the Ukies to get blowed up in a Russian missile barrage. Anyone check the local lake???
I thought that only the lead pilot turned on their transponder and the other pilots turned theirs off. At least we have the recovered jet to provide factual information rather than speculation, but they may want to shape up the public information office.
Please remember to spell Marine Corps with an “s”, not corp, which is short for corporation. Not a good way to inspire respect for your expertise in military affairs.
The world needs grammar Nazis too...obviously these people are very busy.
