President-Elect Trump is moving fast to appoint members to his cabinet in hopes of the U.S. Senate rapidly approving the selections. He hopes to move forward with the America First agenda as quickly as possible. Part of that agenda is ending foreign wars, engaging in effective foreign policy, and securing the homeland from multiple threats.

Insert Congressman Mike Waltz as the nominee for National Security Advisor. Waltz, a U.S. Army Colonel and Green Beret, serves in Florida's 6th Congressional District, where he succeeded DeSantis, who became the state's Governor.

He previously served as a defense policy director at the Pentagon and as Vice President Dick Cheney's counterterrorism advisor at the White House.

Waltz is well known as a hawkish figure and NEOCON who is more likely to continue to advocate for and push for forever wars than for ending them. If appointed, it remains to be seen how his push for continued conflict will mesh with Trump's goal of ending it.
