Parents Respond To West Point Recruiting Their Child With Questions That Go Unanswered

The parents of a gifted female high school senior, who recently received a solicitation to attend from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, forwarded us their response to the institution. You can read below.

We received your kind invitation for our daughter to apply to West Point.   We realize that as a straight A-honors student, captain of multiple teams, and a 2nd degree black belt that Michelle is an attractive candidate.  A few questions however in response to your invitation:

    1. Does Michelle need to be vaccinated with the mRNA vaccine/gene therapy against the coronavirus?
    2. How do you treat independent female leaders?  I’ve read West Point's claims to be the premier leadership academy in the world (although my alma mater, Harvard Business School, might dispute that).  Yet we also saw multiple national stories where young female patriot cadet leaders were being abusively punished, ostracized, and kicked out of West Point for refusing to take an experimental gene therapy.
    3. We are a bi-racial family who deeply believe in MLK’s adage- “judge people by the content of their character, not the color of their skin”.  Does the USMA coursework currently include critical race analysis, examining white privilege, and/or the "1619 Project" alternative, slavery-centric view of US History?

We look forward to your response.

    Sincerely,

    Michelle’s Father
