On Monday, President-elect Donald Trump stated that he would consider reversing President Biden's recent decision to allow U.S.-made ATACMS missiles to strike targets deep inside Russia. Calling the decision "stupid," Trump also stated that he was unhappy about the fact he was not consulted prior to the decision.

"I don't think that should have been allowed, not when there's a possibility -- certainly not just weeks before I take over," Trump said during a news conference at his Mar-a-Lago resort. "Why would they do that without asking me what I thought? I wouldn't have had him do that. I think it was a big mistake."

Ukraine's attacks inside Russian territory resulted in predictable counterstrikes. This included the threat of nuclear weapons employment and other hypersonic missile strikes against critical infrastructure intended to create critical energy shortages in the middle of winter.

Zelensky hopes for Trump's continued support of Ukraine, while Trump is focused on finding ways to end the conflict. De-escalation of the conflict on both sides will not be easy, with casualty estimates as high as 1.5 million combined.
