In the first Cuban Missile Crisis, the CIA Analysts - forerunners of the modern Deep State, fought CIA Director John McCone refused to accept his concerns that Soviet Missiles were in Cuba

Anytime a member of the Intelligence Community says, “We’ve got this topic covered” immediately question their thesis. CIA analysts fought CIA Director John McCone and refused to consider that Soviet Missiles were in Cuba in 1962. McCone ordered spy flights and Major Rudolf Anderson was killed flying a U-2 over Cuba - but pictures from his flights confirmed that yes, the Soviets had placed missiles in Cuba.

I have “Low Confidence” that the current cadre of analysts know the performance characteristics of the S-300/S-400 Chinese/Russian Air Defense missiles nor what one looks like if they were forced to pick one out of a line up of random missiles pulled off the street.

It’s well within past behavior norms that the Chinese have put air defense missiles in Cuba to protect their spy and military bases and the reality that these missiles could be used to fire at cities in Florida from Orlando south.
