Duncan Sandy's 1957 White Paper destroyed the British Military, it's never recovered. The 2025 DOD Budget Submission was a replay of this infamous 1957 managed decline tome

In 1957, Duncan Sandys, the new British Defence Minister introduced a White Paper that proposed cancelling almost all British aerospace projects because the future was missiles. This cancellation was a bloodbath.

The UK Aerospace Industry was decimated and the UK Ministry of Defence went into a tailspin which has created the non-existent UK military of today. Two historical events must be presented as background.

The United Kingdom and France had just conducted a militarily brilliant and successful campaign to recapture the Suez Canal. And they had been humiliated by the United States who demanded they immediately hand it back (The Soviet Union used this same event as the justification to crush Hungary). The second event was the rise and perception of missiles - which took until about 2010 (when smart bombs outpaced the use of unguided bombs) to really deliver the promise of their advanced capabilities.

So Duncan Sandys saw the future 66 years ahead of time and cancelled everything immediately. Bad idea.

The DOD 2025 budget puts the entire U.S. Department of Defense in reverse - it is a replay of the 1957 managed decline paper of Duncan Sandys. It is a disarming of America. It makes no sense, unless the strategy is to destroy America.
