SOF Aviation Deploys To UK - Question Is Why - Ship Takedown?

UPDATE: U.S. European Command announces the seizure Bella 1.
UPDATE: U.S. forces boarded a sanctioned oil tanker near Iceland before Russian warships and a submarine could reach it. The ship, formerly Bella 1, had recently reflagged as Russian, reports Fox News.

UPDATE: Russian media reports US SOF elements currently undertaking a ship takedown of the tanker Marinera in the northern Atlantic.
Jan 4, 2026 - Open Source Intel has reported a large deployment of USAF transport aircraft to RAF Fairford in England. After this deployment, SOF rotory-wing aviation assets were seen operating in the area according to reports.
An AC-130 gunship, a Navy P-8 reconnaissance aircraft, and fighter refueling tankers have also been deployed to the UK.

One theory is an airbridge being created for operations in Iran. However, the deployment of SOF aviation to the UK does not give them capability in Iran.
One alternative theory is that the aircraft are being staged for operations against a sanctioned oil tanker that is fleeing U.S. capture.
The overnight US air movements to the UK which have caused some interest *might* be preparation to seize the runaway tanker BELLA 1 / MARINERA. USN P-8s seem to be keeping eyes on the ship while 160th SOAR kit arrives. (h/t @DefenceGeek)
The aircraft listed are the right mission set for a ship takedown.
