Cleansing the deep-state, or restoring trust to the Republic, or both

Three recent flag officer reliefs were announced this week, but one seems to be different from the others. The Navy Reserve and Naval Special Warfare commanders were fired, along with the Defense Intelligence Agency director. As usual, these decisions are followed by “loss of confidence” statements with little detail. This happened after Air Force Chief of Staff, General Allvin (on right in below’s picture) announced an early retirement.
Vice Admiral Lacore (Navy Reserve); Rear Admiral Sands (Naval Special Warfare); and Lieutenant General Kruse (DIA—on left in below’s picture) were removed this week. However, Kruse’s dismissal may have ties to conflicting (and possibly leaked) reports of the “initial assessment” regarding strikes against Iranian nuclear sites.
