Major General Curtis D. Taylor has been nominated for a third star, promotion to LT General in the United States Army. The U.S. Senate is deliberating his nomination.

This development has caused many servicemen and women who served under MG Taylor to reach out to Armed Forces Press, prompted by concerns about his ethics and leadership.

We have spoken to multiple individuals who worked under MG Taylor at the National Training Center (NTC) and experienced MG Taylor push the DEI agenda, a trait that Secretary of War Hegseth is trying hard to remove from the flag ranks.

Below are some comments we can report:

"His full throated support of DEI and shameless desire to say whatever was necessary to get another star was on full display. Attached is a snapshot of his command readiness guidance from FY24 outlining mandatory training we had to execute focusing on diversity initiatives."

"He executes a lawfare culture against those who aren’t ideologically aligned with him, investigating dozens across multiple commands for frivolous infractions. And, nobody can do anything about it because he can kill their career unilaterally as a general."

"The General went after anything to do with white culture, aggressively removing history...any cultural ties, songs, etc."

Perhaps more concerning are accusations MG Taylor manipulated training scenarios at the NTC to boost his career, papering over unit deficiencies in order to make his command look good, rather than finding and highlighting unit capability flaws in order to preserve lives in any conflict in the future.

"He manipulates the scenarios at NTC so his units get better outcomes, looking better on paper but being awful in practice. The army looks the other way because his manipulation looks better on paper for them. It makes them look more ready even though they aren’t," said one source to CDM who had served under the General.

"Manipulating as a senior trainer to make parameters in favor of incoming unit, force size, ratio, etc. If they got beaten, then downgrading opponent forces so rotational unit would succeed. Putting parameters, metrics in place that would favor rotational force, overwhelming red opposition force, so blue force obtains objective, like red force pulling back. He was the most conspicuous in years regarding involvement by senior trainer to favor rotational unit, a unit he has responsibility to train."

"You write the test, and grade the test that you are being graded on; he exercised control, able to manipulate results in favor of his career."

"One example -- during a wet gap crossing, unit failed to make it in time, so red force was pulled back so blue force could succeed."

"There are Real World consequences, like you don’t expose gaps that need to be fixed, equipment failures, readiness rates, etc. He had no problem forcing people to get the outcome he wanted."

"I saw units with extremely low operational readiness, can’t perform tasks, so low coming in they cannot conduct operations, which results in lost training time, resources, sometimes well over half your equipment not running."

"Most manipulated rotation they had ever seen from OC, parameters manipulated to achieve desired outcome, [MG Taylor] most involvement in exercise control they had ever seen; you could write the Unit’s AAR before they hit the field".

"The Army is aware of shortcomings of units. They keep making same repeated mistakes over and over, not an improving trend; it is a declining trend in operational readiness. Senior trainiers not wanting to highlight gaps because it highlights their shortcomings also."

At the very least, Congress should investigate these accusations before Taylor pins on his third star.
