Naval Academy Locked Down - Reports Of Shootings, Fatalities

UPDATE:

From the Commandant:

  1. Concerns of the active shooter started on Yodel, an anonymous chat platform. The threat was traced to the IP address of an issued laptop belonging to a separated midshipman. He was confirmed to be in his parents house in the Midwest. No active shooter is believed to have been on the yard.
  2. One midshipman was injured after mistaking law enforcement for the shooter due to misinformation of the shooter posing as law enforcement. Midshipman clubbed base security in the head with his parade rifle, was shot in the arm. Both are stable and receiving treatment.
  3. The threat is a part of multiple false reports of active shooters today across the nation, FBI is opening an investigation.
  4. Misinformation was the biggest threat today
  5. Everyone else is safe, the yard is undergoing a final sweep, lockdown will lift shortly

UPDATE: THIS WAS A FALSE FLAG - COP ALTERCATION WITH MIDSHIPMEN, AFTER THREAT SENT TO USNA BY KICKED OUT STUDENT

False flag! Latest email sent to the entire Brigade:

-Threat was made on online that was traced to an IP address in Bancroft. The IP address belonged to a Mid who was separated, but whose computer was still at the academy. The separated Midshipman is currently in the Midwest.

-Phone calls were placed to Annapolis police stating the same thing. Apparently this was a string of false threats made across the country. FBI investigating.

-Communication broke down and somehow word got around of the “threat” being dressed as law enforcement.

-One mid engaged an officer and was shot in the arm. He is being evacuated and is stable.

-Bancroft is being cleared again and all MIDN are accounted for. All clear should be given soon.””

Sources say the suspected shooter at the Naval Academy is a former Midshipman who had been removed from the school. He was reportedly seen on campus dressed as a police officer and carrying a weapon. Local and military police are sweeping the grounds, searching building by building. Students and staff have been ordered to remain sheltered-in-place until cleared by authorities. The situation remains active and highly dangerous as the manhunt continues tonight. @sentdefender
