With the self-destruction al-Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza City, on October 17, 2023, the Hamas terrorists immediately rolled out the Al Qaeda playbook and played the victim.
Israel knows this game and has been extremely careful in the operation so far. They know that they will lose the Information Battle and overall War if they come across as clumsy and destructive. Their spokespersons have been very articulate, clear spoken, and have taken great steps in differentiating Hamas from the Palestinean population.
The hospital episode reminded me of Bosnia. In Bosnia, the Bosnian side chose a spokesperson who spoke perfect English - they knew their real audience was Western Media. There were also several episodes where mortar rounds landed in crowded market places like Tuzla. The Serbs were immediately convicted in the court of public opinion on these events. This horrible massacre in Tuzla, where I later served, was used as a key pre-text for NATO insertion of peacemaking/peacekeeping troops. However, later forensics pointed to an errant round from Bosnian troops. This information was suppressed - an incident was needed for intervention and truth was irrelevant.
The October 17, 2023 Hospital destruction will be the first of many episodes that will be leveraged by Hamas to rile up the angry Arab Street. The leaders of the Arab countries will attempt to let the mobs get riled up and take out their anger on the Israeli’s even when they know it was a Hamas misfire. The Arab leaders are most concerned with the angry Arab street mobs, they know they will the first to get their heads cut off if they take over. Israel will tread very carefully as they eliminate Hamas, terrorist by terrorist over years, if necessary. In this War, the puppet master behind Hamas is Iran. And the ultimate puppet master giving Iran the green light is the Chinese Communist Party and Emporer Xi.

Even though subsequent investigations showed it was a synthetic story, it got media traction. The bad guys know exactly how to use the media against us.
