A source with knowledge of the development has informed Armed Forces Press that USAF General David Allvin was forced to retire. The move comes amid administration concerns over military leadership.
Allvin’s retirement marks an abrupt end for his tenure as the Air Force’s top officer, which began Nov. 2, 2023 and was slated to last four years. The Air Force’s press release does not say why Allvin is stepping down, and a service spokesperson declined to comment, wrote Breaking Defense.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve as the 23rd Air Force Chief of Staff and I’m thankful for Secretary Meink, Secretary Hegseth and President Trump’s faith in me to lead our service,” Allvin said in the Air Force’s press release. “More than anything, I’m proud to have been part of the team of Airmen who live out our core values of integrity, service and excellence every day as we prepare to defend this great nation.”
